Last night I went to my program’s banquet and I can not tell you how many people disappointed me. Guys were a bit tipsy and might of not meant what they said but it’s changed the view I have of them.
Some “friends” of mine were pretty flirty, asking me things like “Where’s your boyfriend?” “How long is he gone for?” “So what are you doing after this?”
Like have some respect for him! First of all, I was pretty fucking offended that they thought I would be a girl who would even think of doing something like that. Second, I would of expected these dudes to try someone who isn’t in a relationship.
Just because he’s not here doesn’t mean my feelings for him aren’t with me. This is why I don’t like going out without him. There’s no lack of respect for women in relationship.
When I say “boys are dumb” what I really mean is “boys have been raised in a patriarchal society that forces them into an incorrect and problematic view of masculinity that not only forces them to strip away valuable virtues from themselves, like patience and gentleness, but also forces them them to view and treat women in unhealthy ways that devalues women as people and makes them into objects purely for a man’s benefit”
but it’s a lot faster to say “boys are dumb”
